Walking in a Winter Wonderland is one of my favorite tunes. I like the Micheal Buble version the best but I’m sure there are others that I’d enjoy.
The song does give us some good advice to follow though. At the beginning of verse 2, the words are:
Gone away is the bluebird,
Here to stay is a new bird
Interesting phrase isn’t it? Clearly the writer knew the importance of leaving the past in the past and looking on towards the future.
What about you? Are you “forgetting the past and pressing on?” Or are you living your current life in the shadow of mistakes, failures and frustrations of days gone by?
Believe me, I know how easy it is to get caught up in poor decision making and regrets of the past. “If only I had done”….”Why didn’t I say”….”I should have”…All of these phrases have been uttered by even the most carefree of individuals.
Although it’s important to learn from the mistakes of the past, we must not become consumed by them. Mistakes and failures are part of life. They teach us lessons, give us experience and prepare us for future endeavors.
Often times it’s not the mistakes but how we react to them that will have a lasting impact on our lives.
Today may not be a winter wonderland but it’s time to say goodbye to the bluebird. The new bird is here to stay!
Have a great day!
